"The exhibition, which is part of the activities dedicated in 2009 by the City of Milan to Japan , illustrated with works of the highest level, including some national treasures never seen in Italy, the extraordinary cultural transformation, social and economic situation of Japan over three centuries, ranging from Momoyama period (1568-1615 ) to the Edo period (1615-1868).
screens, also of imposing size, horizontal and vertical scrolls and silk paintings on paper, but also precious lacquer and ceramics, armor, textiles and masks tell the fascinating chapter in Japanese history identified with the birth of the modern world, which was built around two key nuclei and cultural power: Edo (now Tokyo), the administrative capital, and Kyoto, the imperial capital. The exhibition tackles fact that very crucial period in which modern Japan was formed through the plot and the comparison between the environment and feudal Samura one hand and the new middle class financial and business second, but also in the coexistence of the ancient traditions of the imperial court.
The brief Momoyama period takes its name from the area of \u200b\u200bKyoto, which became home to the magnificent castle built by Nobunaga fattovi. The period is characterized by an extraordinary artistic production in painting, but also the applied arts. New schools of painting flourished and craft centers arise in the highest quality in lakes such as ceramics, textiles such as weapons.
The Edo period is one in which the Tokugawa family, finally conquered the country, managed to carry on an iron grip freezing the feudal system. With the title of shÿgun , the highest authority in political, administrative and military of Japan, Ieyasu granted to the emperor in 1603, this family ruled the country for two and a half centuries almost total isolation from the rest of the world. This pax Tokugawa led the country in an impressive development of both urban and middle class, only to undermine the dominance of the aristocracy of the sword from the daimyÿ , the feudal lords and the samurai, their vassals [ ...]".
Simply unmissable.
